This 3.3 mile trail was part of the first recreation site developed by the BLM in Idaho. Construction of the site began in 1963. On April 13, 1982, the trail was designed as a National Recreation Trail. Mineral Ridge is a "classroom in the forest." The plant and animal communities are used by local school districts for environmental education. A Trail Guide (use links on the left) leads you along the trail providing you with narrative descriptions of the forest plants, animals and interrelationships described on the 22 marked stations along the trail. Visitors enjoy the invigorating hike and beautiful views. This is also a popular spot for bald eagle viewing.
