Description
It is located entirely in the Historic Washington District. This trail passes through a residential area with many well-maintained or restored examples of 18th, 19th, and 20th century architectural styles, in addition to a park-like waterfront from which several old industrial sites can be viewed. This district and several individual sites located within its boundaries are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It offers increased knowledge of a wide range of architectural styles prevalent in the development of this country and general history of this region of North Carolina from the early 18th century. The City of Washington and the Washington Historic District Commission are responsible for the security and maintenance of the trail.
